A Group of Believers

About Us

We are a group of believers in Yeshua the Messiah from a variety of backgrounds that come together to worship in Spirit and in truth, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and the promised Messiah, His Son Yeshua from Nazareth. We offer discipleship classes using the “Navigators“ and other related materials.

Our Vision

GLORIFY GOD

For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen.
(Romans 11:36 NKJV)

GROW IN HIS WORD

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
(2 Timothy 3: 16-17 NIV)

MAKE DISCIPLES

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
(Matthew 28: 19-20 NIV)

Our Pastor

Yossi was born into a traditional Jewish home on the East Coast of the United States. At a young age he became involved in the New Age movement experimenting in a variety of practices including Tarot reading, horoscopes, palm reading and yoga. After serving in the IDF (Israel Defense Forces) in the mid 1980’s, he left Israel to travel. In Northern California, he stumbled upon a inter-tribal Native American cult and spent the next 16 years practicing sorcery and witchcraft, unbeknownst to him at the time that that was what he was involved in.
It was during this time, that he saw a vision of Jesus and shortly thereafter began to read the New Testament for the first time. Over the course of 8 years, he saw three visions of Jesus, read the bible cover to cover a few times and spent extended times crying on his knees for the truth. In 2001 the Lord finally broke through and Yossi accepted the Lord into his heart but it took another 12 years until he learned what it meant to be a disciple.

How Calvary Chapel Haifa Was Started

Sometimes shortly after returning to Israel in 2009, Yossi met a Calvary Chapel Pastor and was discipled using the ‘Navigators’ discipleship material. A few years ago, the Senior Pastor of Calvary Chapel Tel Aviv asked Yossi if he would consider starting a bible study in Haifa. Eventually he accepted the invitation and he and 2 others started meeting. Since that time the bible study has attracted the attention of people from different parts of Haifa who were excited to get verse by verse teaching in English. The bible study has recently grown into a church plant.

Our Beliefs

What We Believe!

Our Beliefs

Calvary Chapel Haifa (Calvary Chapel) was formed as a fellowship of believers in the Lordship of Yeshua the Messiah. Our desire is to know the Messiah and be conformed to His image by the power of the Holy Spirit. We are not a church with a denomination, nor are we opposed to these, only to its exaggerated emphasis on the doctrinal differences that have led to the division of the body of the Messiah. We believe that the only true foundation of fellowship is His love (Agape), which is greater than all the differences we have and without it we have no right to call ourselves believers (Christians).

Some say that Calvary Chapel best represents the middle ground between fundamentalism and Pentecostalism in modern Protestant theology. Fundamentalism, as it is defined, applies to the literal interpretation of the Scriptures, believing that they (the Bible) are divinely inspired, infallible and sufficient to live a life of faith and practice. Over the years, however, fundamentalism, while clinging to the integrity of the Word of God, became rigid, legalistic and did not accept the practice of spiritual gifts. Pentecostalism on the other hand tends to emphasize the fullness of the Holy Spirit and the exercise of the spiritual gifts and scriptures that are taught in the Word of God that had fallen dormant in most of the mainline churches. Pentecostalism brings to the church the importance of the exercise of the gifts of the Holy Spirit and the power of God available to the believer today through baptism and the subsequent filling of the Holy Spirit. The focus of Pentecostalism tends to be enthusiastic and emotional at the expense of teaching the Word of God.

Calvary Chapel is the balance between the two. At Calvary Chapel Haifa we believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit as mentioned in the Bible and encourage the exercise of them, but always as the Word instructs them to be exercised, “decently and in order,” and with the main emphasis on the Word of God, which we consider as our main rule of faith and practice.

1. We believe that worship of God must be spiritual. Therefore: we remain flexible and we surrender ourselves to the Holy Spirit for the direction of our adoration.

2. We believe that the worship of God should be a source of inspiration. For that reason: we give a special place to music within our worship.

3. We believe that worship of God must be intelligent. For that reason: our services are designed with a great emphasis on teaching the Word of God so that it teaches us how we should worship.

4. We believe that the worship of God must be fruitful. Therefore: we seek His love in our life as the supreme manifestation that we have truly been worshiping Him.

5. We believe that the Word of God is inerrant, that the Bible, old and new testament, is the inspired and infallible Word of God.

6. We believe in the One and Eternal God, existing from eternity in three different persons, each person being completely God and one in essence.

7. We believe that God the Father is the personal, transcendental and sovereign creator of everything.

8. We believe that Yeshua the Messiah is fully God and fully man, that He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, provided Himself as an atonement for the forgiveness of our sins through His vicarious death on the cross, was physically resurrected by the power of the Holy Spirit, He ascended back to the right hand of God the Father, and lives forever to intercede for us.

9. We Believe after Jesus ascended to Heaven, He poured out his Holy Spirit on the believers in Jerusalem, allowing them to fulfill His command to preach the Gospel.

10. We believe that all people are by nature separated from God and are responsible for their own sins, however, that salvation, redemption and forgiveness are freely offered to all by the grace of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah. When a person repents of sin and accepts Yeshua the Messiah as their personal Lord and Savior, trusting in Him for salvation, that person is immediately born again and sealed by the Holy Spirit, all his sins are forgiven, and that person becomes a child of God, destined to spend eternity with the Lord.

11. We believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit mentioned in the scriptures, and that they are valid today to be exercised within scriptural guidelines. We as believers should yearn for the best gifts, seeking to exercise them in love so that the whole Body of the Messiah may be edified. We believe that love is more important than the most spectacular gifts and that without love all exercise of spiritual gifts has no value.

12. We believe that the government of the church should be a simplistic rather than a complex bureaucracy and we depend on the Holy Spirit to guide, rather than encourage the flesh.
